One of the most sought after retouching tricks is how to clean up the skin without losing the texture and detail, something you may see in make-up and beauty ads everywhere. The technique is pretty time consuming and is really only worthwhile when doing ad work or very high end editorials, But the results make all other retouching just look bad.
I trained one of my interns in this technique and to fortify what she learned I had her make this video of her retouching one of Alex Covo's beauty images.
This will take some practice to get it looking smooth and clean as it will require you to pay close attention to detail.
Just remember not to retouch your retouching.
Good Luck!

For Photographers and Retouchers - Creating clean skin with all its texture,

I set this up for those people who think retouching is just a touch of a button, sometimes its tiring trying to explain to people the amount of time that goes into image enhancement. Although I rarely have to justify my cost I always have to justify my time and explain why it takes so long to finish this or that. I'm thinking about just creating a series showing different jobs and situations in full.
Hi Ken, am looking at photographers websites as I am about to have mine redone. Really enjoy the way you talk about yourself, your work and your challenges. Feel like there's a person behind your words. Refreshing!
